Yeah, you definitely can do it.

In my last two games, I actually felt like I really had to, btw.

Both games, my opponent heavily hunted the FSP with the LOME-Witchking and a ton of cards and drained the companions and added quite some corruption.
On the flip side, he did not advance a lot militarily (many dice in the hunt box and for playing cards) so I could afford to rest the FSP (one game in Lorien, one game in Minas Tirith) for several rounds before heading to Mordor.
