Be aware of the difference between "wealth" and your current coins. At the end of each game, you add your score to your "wealth." Maybe you spend some wealth during setup for the next game but you do not have it available to spend during a game.

The influence markers have different functions in different games. Do not assume that whatever they indicated in a past game has anything to do with the current game. If the markers are used in a game, read about them in the episode setup or special rules.
