My wife and I absolutely love Tipperary. This is such a relaxing quaint little puzze. but we really wish the game would last longer. When you are familiar with the rules, a 2 player game can be as quick as 10-15 minutes. We really love the decisions the game offer, and we both wanted to create bigger landscapes.Since every player plays 12 tiles (one per turn) in the regular rules, there are more than enough tiles to play 24 turns at 2 players (60 tiles in the box). We tested this option tonight just to make sure it worked, and it does. There are also enough sheep, towers and bog tiles to accomodate 24 turns (which makes sense since there were supposedly enough to accomodate 5 players) and the game arc is not affected (other than it being much easier to completely surround the starting tile). And the game remains balanced too (final score: 184 - 178)
In conclusion, for anyone wondering, 24 turns work wonderfully at 2 players. So much so that I don't think my wife and I will go back to 12 turns for that player count. I really think this should be suggested in the rules the way Kingdomino rules suggest that at 2 players, you can choose to produce a 7x7 grid instead of the regular 5x5 grid.
One cautionary word though: More time and more tiles may not change anything to whether you finaly get to win against your wife. No change as far as I' m concerned. 😅
