I’ll second this. Before I purchased Spirit Island I played through the tutorial. It gave a good mechanical and strategic overview.

After playing a few times I went to forums to look up some strategy hints (covered here already: try to prevent builds, focus on current problem lands, treat blight as a resource). I didn’t need the strategy hints to win, but I felt like we were cutting it close and I wanted to get more efficient and try higher difficulties.

Never have I felt that I made a choice in the first few rounds that doomed the game. Especially the low complexity spirits are very forgiving for players who aren’t sure what direction to go a first.
