Base game (and also M&M expansion) currently are BYOS only (which is fine to me, but not to everyone).

Yes, that's exactly the way I handle it.

The "Leaders Expansion"s will introduce clear win/lose conditions, you might check that out (here). But it's not yet published (to a huge range of people), but pretty likely later that year.
