Having a final round of thinning out remaining MODs would work. When I expanded my version (see r/Risk2210 Opening_clock2722 posts), I went with capping number of invasions per year to 10, it resolved the runaway final player problem since everyone is conquering about the same amount (my expanded map has 130 territories +120 discoverable ones so the #invasions is higher than your base game reference (42 land+13 water+14 space). Also, I added so many special buildings (relics) and xenomorph commanders, as well as terraforming mars-like awards and milestones that territories became 1 method of scoring but paled in comparison to points from achievements. (1 VP for each devastation token added throughout the game) for example.↧
