The way I see it, the main goal is to optimize actions and buy as many cards (whether tech or city/project ones), while spending as few turns on work as possible. It's much easier to do that if you're outproducing your opponents significantly. Population affects all resources, so fastest way of maximizing each work turn is building up population. If you manage to outproduce opponents significantly, you can then concentrate on cities, military or tech. Obviously I might be wrong in this analysis, I have just one game under my belt, but I just don't see an error in the reasoning I'm presenting.↧
