It doesn't need to be on the research board because there's only one Lost Planet; you're not randomly selecting from several possibilities like you do with the federation token on the Terraforming track. That said, there's no reason not to put the Lost Planet on the research board either. 🙂 I always put it on space 5 of the Navigation track.
