I've not played Yellow & Yangtze before, but am hoping to get Huang (the new YY) to the table today & over the weekend. (I have played T&E, for context).

Reading this variant, I am considering starting with it from the beginning. It sounds more interesting mechanically in evolving the board-state and interactions. It also feels more natural thematically.

Would people recommend starting with this variant, or playing the rules as written for the first few games and introducing if necessary?
