Clarification on a related issue for the "Regeneration" mutation,

If a player who has the regeneration mutation his hit with two damage, does he die immediately with no chance of regeneration, or is it like the miotic mutation where you can take one of the hits, then heal and then take another hit and survive as a "wounded warrior"?
