Aqua is a tug of war game where you compete as a row or column player to score the most points through the number of sets you have in each row/ column including card numbers and icons. The twist is that you can only score rows/ columns with card numbers which total between 10 and 20 so you have to be careful as you lay cards to hit that boundary. You also have to lay some cards face down so need to try and remember their number and icon of do not know until it may be flipped. This means that you can’t just concentrate on your own rows/columns but can try to ensure your opponent’s area total card number goes over or under the needed boundary to stop them scoring.

This game is a super easy teach and has a surprising amount of strategy for such a small game. You can also increase this by layering additions such as scoring turtles next to water icons, adding visitor icons when boats are laid, and scoring for lily pads to add more ways to earn points. This makes it even more beginner friendly as you can build the complexity of the game over a few plays.

Also, the artwork by Ta-Te Wu is just beautiful!
