I never had this situation, but what I’d do is end the game as if it was Turn 8 to declare the winner.
This seems to be the most sensible option that moves the Chronicle forward, although triggering the fall of an empire that lasted a few games on such an endgame may be unsatisfying in practice. I could see the argument for an automatic Empire victory, that may still reshape the kingdom and weaken the empire but prevents drastic outcomes.
If we want to go further in nullifying or minimizing the effects of an unsatisfying game on the overarching chronicle, some steps in the Chronicle could be skipped - selecting the same Oath, not discarding or adding denizens, maybe leaving edifices as is. But those are not necessary to set the game back in a consistent state for the next game, which IMHO is the main objective. For that - the turn 8 endgame procedure is enough.
