Here I picked Mermaids against black-brown-gray combo and it worked out ok: http://terra.snellman.net/game/4pLeague_S1_D1L1_G2

I placed leech/block dwelling to east, which helped me get fav11 because Darklings had to secure H7. I expanded to west only later in game to get a lot of dwellings without spades and ended up winning network anyway even though I didn't connect G6.
